Leaf blowers and rakes alike are merely evidence of the futile compulsion felt by many to order the world as they would have it, rather than as Nature and Entropy between them prefer it.

That's an eloquent excuse for never tidying up...

they blow the leaves out on to the road and under my wheels. Thankyou Mr. Leafblowerscientistperson!

If you leave them they tend to either blow away or blow into a pile in the corner on their own.

I really cannot see the point of blowing a leaf away with a machine that does not pick them up. Will it not just blow back?

That's my beef with them. Not everyone who uses them does this but I see a fair few being used to blow leaves off someones property for them to become someone elses problem.

I just leave the leaves on the grass. Worms eat them, you know, and keep your lawn aerated in return. Blackbirds like to poke about among the leaves to find worms. I like blackbirds.

"And the leaf blowers!! Is there anything more futile?"

They'd have to be bloody big worms to chomp their way through the leaves on my lawn!

My gardener uses a leave blower. I've asked "Why?" and the only response I can gather is he likes anything with an petrol engine on it. So he also has a hedge cutter, chainsaw, lawnmower, strimmer all with petrol engines.

I think leave blowers are a complete waste of time. As a previous contributor has said, they collect in corners and alike. Pick them up where they collect and compost them. It's quicker and less effort.
