Back in the day, when the Stone Roses had good singles, I'd stop behind the first car in a queue at the lights and lean on it with one hand to save having to get my feet out of the (toe)clips. Nobody ever objected, but 'road rage' wasn't so much of a thing back then.
Since coming back to cycling, I don't do this anymore. I can't decide if it's because I think it's a bit cheeky, or because I think 20 years later I'm more likely to get abuse for it (because people might be more bothered about people leaning on the Mercedes they pay a few hundred quid a month to hire, rather than the 8 year old Rover Metro they paid a few hundred quid for in total)
I don't see anyone else doing it either, although it was quite common back then. Was this a quirk of my commute at the time (perhaps one person started doing it and we all thought it was a good idea?) or was it a thing, or is it still a 'thing'?
