Ive temporarily stolen the cheap charge spoon from my hybrid and put it on the roadie as I seem to have a spoon shaped backside

I'm thinking of getting the more expensive leather version as a perminintly fixture on the Felt. Are they the same shape and comfort? Does anyone have experience of them?

Get a ti-railed Charge Knife. Similar shape to the Spoon, but a bit less padding and looks more appropriate on the best bike.

Do not get the Knife. I've broken 2 of them, and Potsy has broken his.

Charge don't give a stuff about warranty - luckily I got mine from Wiggle, so got a refund as the first was over a year old - Wiggle replaced, the second only 8 months old. Charge said:-

The Knife is designed as a lightweight saddle so we reduced the padding. This was uncomfortable so had to introduce extra flex into the base by using a thinner plastic. We aimed the saddle at the road rider so constant movement tends to be minimal compared to offroad use.

We do not deal with warranty here so won't be able to help direct but I'm sure between Wiggle and the UK distributor they should help you out in some way.

Saddles just don't break.

Get the Spoon Ti if you can.

The Knife uses a lightweight base that flexes where the padding doesn't - yes they are comfy, but they break after about a year. I commuted on mine, and both cracked across the base - so did Potsy's. Stick with the Spoon or the 'more expensive spoons'.

Charge aren't UK owned any more !

Other option, if your butt is Spoon shaped  is to look for flat saddles, like the Selle Italia SLR, or even the cheaper XR which I have on the commuter now ! I have both a SLR and an XR, and an XO on the MTB.

Blimey, can't imagine a saddle breaking!

Cheers fossy

I've never broken a saddle in over 40 years of cycling, I've worn a few out though, that knife sound like a design cock up, they never thought the idea right through.

Is the ti more comfy than the cromo? Anyone compared the 2? I'm nervous to deviate from what I know I suppose. Saddle buying seems like a black art.

Buying and setting up a saddle is indeed a black art, I have a charge spoon on my fixed, it was a bugger to set up, however now its set right its very comfortable.

If you like the Spoon, you might get on with one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Selle-Italia-SLK-Flow-Saddle-Non-Perforated-RRP-87-99-/260958525282

They are not similar saddles at all but I've used both and they seem equally comfortable to me!

Strictly speaking, this is not an SLK but an SLI. The only difference (I have two SLKs as well) seems to be that the SLI has a smooth leather finish, not a perforated one, and I've only found it on sale in the US.

Although definitely new, mine (and a mate's) did appear to be seconds as there were minor imperfections, of no consequence, to the leather finish. Not worried by this as the price is a bargain and the imperfections polished themselves out after the first ride.

My saddle was used daily though. The repeated flexing caused a crack across the base in the middle

still shouldnt do that, they aught to assume that it would be used daily.. really rubbish.

Ive ordered one of those selle SLK flow. £30 seemed like a good risk to me. Be interesting to see what its like.. I shall report back

I have both and no difference that I can tell, although I am now leather/ti on both road bikes, and the plastic cromo is on the MTB.

The weights vary too, and one leather/ti that I received in error weighed the same as my them plastic one.

Only difference is that the leather looks nicer
