I've had two fibre flares and they lasted a few weeks after they died due to the rain. The internal connections all rusty. Not that bright either.
Same her, got one last year, dead after a couple of wet rides. Waste of money imo.

excellent for additional side visibilty

I have one on my right ankle at this time of year.

When my kids are out riding in the dark I put one on their right upper arm, as well as normal lights front & rear. They do add a certain eye-grabbing sparkle.

Need something reliable and bomb proof for all year any weather riding.

The first fibre flare I bought (way back in the midsts of time - when they first appeared) the same thing happened. I got a replacement under warranty from Wiggle. What I did was smear some grease around the seals. That solved the water ingress problem.

I was given a blinkin LED armband as a "award" during our annual alternatative commute week. They encourage telecommuting, ride sharing, walk or cycling to work.
I have used it a couple time seems to work fine. I am not sure that I would pay the money for it but for free I will use it.

If it was me I'd have the LEDs on my ankles, plus tights/leggings with reflective material on. after those bases were covered, I'd have armbands
The link above is about how to increase your conspicuity at night - biological motion is the key. The up and down motion of your legs gives you away as a cyclist.

I'm going to get a rear light on my helmet - hopefully it'll increase my visibility when filtering

fark inside filtering at that speed, no wonder you've had a lot of issues.
I haven't had lots of issues when you take into account the milage I do. And I can't recall any from when filtering on the left.

This is a road which I've used as a cyclist and a motorist for the past 15 years, you get to know the traffic patterns, drive ways and side roads very well.

Sorry I meant going down the inside of slow moving traffic...braver than me, I worry about getting doored.
It is rare for people to jump out while the traffic is still moving (though I tried doing it once when p*ssed, so don't 100% count on that!) but I would certainly be very wary when the traffic is stationary, and definitely avoid creeping up between large vehicles and the kerb.
