FYI: It's not holiday snaps we're looking at but rather displaying of artwork. Some of the pictures we want to have up wouldn't be appreciated by certain groups of friends. Changing large prints over isn't something I want to be doing in a hurry.

LED back-lighting gives you a wider colour gamut when applied to the same LCD technology. That's it's chief selling point AFAIK.

It should also actually be cheaper to produce but marketing dictates these "new tech" TVs run at a premium and come complete with a "green" sticker.

I guess some of you are waiting for emissive technologies for low power consumption. Your electricity bill will depend on which channel you watch!
