Leeds area ?

I'm dropping the lads of to university on Saturday and staying in Leeds Saturday night . If there's room for my bike I would quite fancy a 30 - 40 mile road ride on Sunday before I head back down to Devon . Any suggestions out there please ?

How about this route from north Leeds? You could cut down to Cavendish Pavilion cafe at the 29 km point and cross the Wharfe on the footbridge. That would bring the total distance down to about 64 km (40 miles).

Thanks for that Colin , from what I can remember I head out to Hyde Park which is heading north to Headingly and the start of your route so this will be ideal .

Yes, Golden Acre Park is where we started from and that was straight up the A660 past Headingley.

I once took a wrong turning on the Bingley Road and made it to West Morton and crossed Ilkley moor on a gravel track, I had some funny looks from people on MTB's as I was clinging to my brakes with one foot out trying to slow down at any opportunity without coming to a gravelly end with my 23c tyres on my road bike
