A group of friends are cycling Liverpool to Leeds along the canal.

Anyone know if there are any water stops along the canal....if so what location.

Thanks

When I was doing stretches of it with the kids, we used to top up water bottles at pubs along the way.

I carried a 3 litre in my frame bag and a water bottle on the frame and I just made it too Leeds before I ran our 9 1/2 hours later.

There are several supermarkets just off the canal that I saw, plenty of houses and pubs where I'm sure you could knock on their door and ask.

Or as above buy a key and use the taps near where boats stop over night.

Enjoy, it's hell near Skipton

Hi all,

What's this ride like...? What's the terrain like...?would you class it as a hard ride to do....? , is it easy enough to follow, or do you have to leave the path at any point....?

Thanks

The Anchor Inn at Salterforth near Barnoldswick is recommended. They do beer as well.

And if you ask they will show you their stalactites.

It's right by the canal.

Skipton is only hell in the wet or on the wrong bike

If it's wet, Silsden to Skipton is hard work, you need an MTB, the very well worn channels along with the gazillion tree roots + mud, will see you falling. If I use my hybrid, shod with 35mm's, it's useless, I just slither around, give up, and take to road. There is a cycle route that leaves the canal at bridge 194, you leave before Silsden and re-join (if you like) after, it cuts out a horrible section and is a lovely ride.

There's loads.

This site is the best for information on the canal ride.

We did it over 2 days about 2 years ago for charity. Had a right laugh.

You need a key from the waterways though.
