Well done to all that have completed this ride. A few of us are doing Liverpool to Leeds on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of September. I did a bit of a practice ride yesterday from Riddlesden to Gargrave then back onto Snaygill and I found it very hard going (mainly due to it being my first long ride out this year and my bum really hurting!) I've ridden Leeds to Keighley before and the surface it's excellent but I don't know what to expect from Gargrave through to Liverpool. Can anyone summarise what percentage is horrible rough, bumpy, bum breaking terrain as opposed to nice and smooth surfaces like Keighley to Leeds as I need to get myself mentally prepared for the pain lol! Also we are looking at accommodation just over the halfway mark and have seen the Holiday Inn Express in Burnley but are concerned about where we'd leave our bikes for the night! Can anyone recommend any alternative accommodation?

I did the ride on 22nd June 12 and it bucketed down from start to finish. I felt the worst bit was around Skipton (maybe 5/6 miles either side of the town, there are some ropey bits between Rishton to Hapton As a very rough estimate I would say its about a third good towpath, third reasonable (if a little bumpy) and a third poor with a few dire bits thrown in. The day we rode it was the day of major storms and the towpath was flooded for most part. Having said that the only time we had to get off was for trees fallen across the path. We managed it in just over 141/2 hours. which given the conditions was a pretty good time. Sorry can't give any help with accomodation. The only other advice is make sure you know the route when you have to leave the towpath at the tunnels at Gannow and Foulridge. If you get good weather it is a really enjoyable ride. Good luck
