Regarding the bit after Huddersfield you have two choices, the one you mention A616-B6108-A635 or you can take A52-A670-A635

It depends on how you feel about Wessenden Head. If you're in very good shape it is a fantastic climb. But it is as hard as any climb in the Peak District (Holme Moss included IMO). The A52 route has a long steady climb out of Huddersfield via Marsden. It is busy but you would turn off onto the A670 descent into Uppermill which is a quieter road.

An alternative that I like is A643-A640 which is a much quieter road than then A52. It also isn't as hilly as the B6108 route and it will avoid Huddersfield.

Not familiar with the bit out of Leeds but if it were up to me and your route out took me near Brighouse I would then take the A643-A640

Oh hello!

Goodness me, that was a long time ago!! I didn't actually do the route, so I can't comment on it i'm afraid. Thinking about it now though, it really does look busy and as Colin says, there's so much better cycling available around those parts that the whole Leeds-Manc thing seems a little redundant

Sorry I couldn't give a more constructive/helpful post!!
