Lejog 2015 so far

Seen quite a few cyclists up in the highlands so early this year it's great to see and speak with them hearing lots of stories along there way. We had a group of 12 cyclists in today doing the.north coast 500 beautiful route around the highlands especially in this weather the spectacular views compared to the American Route 66 be keen to hear from folk planning lejog,jogle or trying the north coast 500

Ah Helmsdale. Very many moons ago I stayed in the Youth Hostel there. Is it still there?

I think it fell down soon after you visited, 26

I did have a great stay but I didn't think we'd brought the roof down

It was still there last Thursday when I passed by, it has been upgraded and is now described as Independent "affiliated" to SYHA..

Ah yes, both times I've done that route I've gone via Altnaharra......a little longer but beautiful scenery.

Indeed on that long ago occasion we had come down that way from Tongue/Durness. It is only in the last two years I actually made it to JoG. On that occasion I took the train from Wick south. Never actually done a LEJoG. Cape Wrath - much nicer and 3 times

I did the CTC YHA route in 2011 with Mrs R and then in 2012, I did the YHA route up and turned round and followed the CTC B&B route on the way back. 1925 glorious miles

Superb Rocky. Well done.

I've frittered most of my time away on the West Coast and Islands. Give that a go sometime - I cannot get it out of my system - it's that good.

Guys!! great to read this entry, can I encourage ANYONE to read my entry - just typed out - in the Health, Fitness and Training forum .. and possibly tempt Someone for a challenge or a ride out for a few days ..
