I'll start, I did it in 1991 (LEJOG), 9 days, +2 colleagues, supported, for charity (naturellement).

I did it in 14.5 days with one mate unsupported this August, the wettest August on record. Also did the less popular 'east of the pennines' route, which was mostly ace. Rode 1100 miles in total.

Are there commercial companies that support end to enders for a fee? I'll be straight with you, I'd like to ride it but I rather fancy the idea of having my overnight kit waiting for me in the next pub 100 miles down the road

See what you mean, but where's the adventure! you could try asking a mate, or your other half if they will support you in a vehicle.

There is one organised LEJOG that I know of but the fees are around £1000. It's a series of Audax rides strung together to form a 1600 km route.

I think that there are CTC tours that do LEJOG too.
