Hi. Lejog newbie. I am planning to do this for my 50th this year. I am a keen cyclist but not too great at planning my own route. Has any one got the full route and tips for things to take and places to stay. Don't really want to camp it. Also any tips on keeping the mobile charged up as I would like to record it. Thanks in advance.👍
As other have said, there are many options!!
Plenty of questions too: solo? How far each day are you ‘comfortable’ with? Accommodation style?

I did it last May when I stepped away from work, aged 56.
Other than a 3.5 day Lon2Paris when I was 50, & the occasions Lon2Brighton in years before, I hadn’t really cycled more than 30 or 40 miles in one go…

I found cycle.travel absolutely brilliant for planning routes.
I booked all my accom in advance…..but did break it into 3 parts with a couple of days rest at home in Leicester and also in Edinburgh….
19 days cycling, averaged about 55 miles a day. 50mph gales and rain during the first few days😱
Camped a couple of days on the Leics-Edin leg, & you know what? They were a couple of my fave days of the whole adventure😎
I’m pretty rubbish at knowing where I am and route planning on a bike….but found the Wahoo Roam an absolute star when loaded up with my plans 👍
A travel adapter with a few USB ports allowed me to charge (iPhone, Wahoo, Garmin Varia - another brilliant safety device)….and a 10,000mah battery pack in case.

I’m almost done writing up my adventures in a ‘picture/travel book’ form…well, v1 at least.
Writing it for my own enjoyment really, but hints & tips in there, for sure…..you could be my proof-reader if you wanted….msg me if you like!

Oh yes: my route was roughly this:
634809

If not keen at planning would you be better off on an escorted trip? Part of planning is understanding the nuances of the potential routes and stops and alternate options. If you just grab some random GPX you may have something that suits you to the ground or a route that does your head in.
