Lejog update.

David ,John Andrew and Richard are now in Lancaster.A couple of punctures a broken rear wheel and todaya falling off the bike.But doing well.Not much chance of finding a computer so the blog is a little short of info.But a question from me.The hills out of Cornwall and Devon sound horrendous we have been texting each other.So is there a flatter way out of these two areas apart from the main A30 i think it is called.I would like to know .Have read about Sustrans route 3.But not seen anything yet.I am thinking of 2010 when i will be 60.

The hills in Devon and Cornwall are a pain no matter which way round an End to End is completed. You just have to be realistic and accept that the pace through Devon and Cornwall will be a bit slow and that every climb is rewarded by a descent. I managed to pedal up every hill despite being 22 and 24 stones when I did my JEJOG and GOGLE respectively.

It's not the steepness of the hills that's a pain but their frequency. Once out of Cornwall, there's liittle left to challenge if you choose your route well.

Slightly over two years ago, Maggot, a member of this forum, was doing JOGLE and came off in a big way within 20 miles of the finish. It took him a few months to get over it and finish the ride.

It sticks in my mind because I tried and failed JOGLE about three weeks before him.

Ouch! Thats terrible.... I'm doing LEJOG in September, will bear User76 in mind.

I will find out what they are riding.One for certain is a Dawes Horizon.A carrera with modifications carbon fork road tyres and a touring saddle.Other two not sure.

Notsoblue,Sorry this has taken so long.The four bikes were,Dawes Horizon,Carerra mountain bike with alterations road tyres,carbon fork and a touring saddle.Specialised Sirrus Sport and a Edinburgh Revolution touring bike .
