So how many got off their bikes and walked to work?

I can't walk to work, especially today.
It is a 70 mile round trip and I have to bring back 5 steel bike safes (lockers). It'll be a bit difficult walking it.

I might send out an email encouraging people to park at the far side of the car-park this week.

We have people who'll get to work 45 early just so they can get a space on the front car park, and not have to use the side one which is 40 yards away  no chance they will walk to work, some live 1/2 mile away and still get there by car.

I never cease to be astounded by the number of people I see walking around, completely inappropriately dressed for the weather!

When I volunteered on a Community farm many moons ago, we would get school kids helping during the holidays. Most were reasonably sensible, but I always remember one girl who always turned up looking like she was going to a party or something, complete with the obscenely low cut (for a girl of about 10) jeans et al.

I mean, if that is what her parents let her out in, TO WORK ON A FARM, then I'd hate to see what they were wearing!

Any lower and those jeans really WOULD have been rude

Walking is impossible for these people. It's bad enough that some still have to walk from their house to their garage.

I ride to a mate's house most Wednesday nights (20+ mile round trip) His next-door-neighbour's daughter is severely afflicted with the above. She can't walk from the house to the garage round the back of the house, she has to wait out front and be picked up - and vice-versa. Also, if she comes home in her car (BF driving) she is dropped off at the door, while he then parks the car 10 meters away....?

It won't make any difference here unfortunately.  they drive the half mile to the school / shops etc. The school run is a nightmare. We don't own a car ( can't afford one ) and when I see people fighting to get the nearest drop-off point at the school gates it drives me mad.  they're not supposed to park there, it's bloody dangerous. And illegal. And I'm getting off my soapbox before this becomes a full-blown rant.

I remember seeing a DJ setting up for a party at a club house.
He was unloading his stuff at the back of the car and his girlfriend(?) was sitting in the front seat winging and complaining for him to hurry up. He eventually gave up and just moved his stuff out of the way and reversed the car half a car's length so that she could get out right opposite the club doors and walk in. He then moved his car forwards again and carried on unloading.

What made it worse was that the club doors were on the driver's side of the car. Backing up meant that she had to walk even further around the car then if she had just got out where it was!
