Saw a parent car parked up on the school run this morning, with just a tiny patch of ice cleared from the windscreen. I wish I'd taken a photo with my phone now.

I didn't quite have the courage to wait for the parent and suggest that they might like to clean it properly before driving off and risking killing someone, so I just wrote a passive-aggressive note "CLEAN" on the uncleared ice on the windscreen.

Stupid isn't it,obviously.

Brain dead would be more in order.

I saw a mother with little daughter in tow try to cross the A21 in Lewisham, not 50 yards from a pedestrian crossing.
She got stuck in the middle of the road, cars travelling either side of her.

I called out stupid woman... of course I got a mouthful of abuse back.

What a great way to teach your kids how not to cross a road safely.

 Stupid woman, and with a crossing so close!

I even try and set a good example at pedestrian crossings, not going until the green man if there are young kids there, even if there is a gap I could cross in.

I see one regularly on my commute in - the road is just outside a big school and very busy. There's a lollipop man about 200 yards away, and traffic lights about 200 yards the other way... and yet a mother comes out with her Daughter and perches by the side of the road... then pushes her child to run across when she deems it to be safe!!!!:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy:

The girl doesn't have a clue how to cross the road (as can be noted from the lack of looking etc.) but just runs when her Mum says so.

The woman then just goes back into her house which is (what a surprise) just where she chooses to push her child into the busy road.

The lack of brains in some people amazes me!!!

Unfortunately, it may end up being a case of Darwin Effect by proxy. Unfair on the kid, but a similar end effect.

Just a random thought. If a policeman witnessed this, is there anything he could do, apart from have a quiet word? Is the woman endangering the child or anything? Would be great if there was some arcane law she could be got under...

I don't think 'being as thick as pig sh*t' is an offence... sadly.

It's just pure laziness basically. I dread to think what would happen if she said "Go" and then changed her mind as a car was driving faster than she realised... I suspect the kid would just run on blindly, get mown down and of course the driver would be strung up.

What if, for example, it was a lady with MS, or anything else that makes walking difficult/tiring/painful? I think it's entirely fair that people do cross where there isn't a crossing, they are public highways after all, and what makes drivers' journeys more important than theirs?

I accept this is a bit of social balance, but for me personally I'm always happy to slow or stop to aid a pedestrian crossing a road, whether I'm in the car or on the bike.

No - but if there had been an accident, it would be intersting to see how the police would have looked on the actions of those involved.

that's all very well but if your action caused an accident who do you think would be blamed ?;) roads are for vehicles not pedestrians
The whole of Wellington crosses the high street 20 yds from the lights and busy crossroads drives me nuts:angry: The stupid lemmings are jumping out into the road everywhere from between parked cars grrr

I get people giving questioning (what a nutter) looks as I go all around my car cleaning the frost and snow off all the windows and sweeping it all off the roof, bonnet and lights as well before I set off.

Yes, I agree. People should save their ire for those drivers who, on seeing a woman in the middle of the road, don't slow or stop to let her across.

That's fair enough Mikey, but you know the A21, you travel on it everyday & know how busy it is. Would you have done the same thing with one of your kids? I like to think not.

An adult, fair enough, but not dragging kids with them.
