I thought even mixed cycling and ped paths were bad enough? can you imagine car, cycles and ped roads?

yes, used to walk to school on them, bike everywhere on them, learnt to drive on them

ah, the joys of growing up in rural yorkshire, my driving instructors first words where "always drive as if there could be a tractor round the next corner"

never found a tractor, combine harvester, skip lorries, burnt out wrecks, horses, seed planters, you name it, we found it on a driving lesson,

never a tractor tho...

Here's a ray of light.

Walking down the road yesterday, saw a young girl, about 8, maybe 10 (I'm not good at children's ages), wanting to cross the road (it's not a main road, but a fair few cars use it, South Bank Avenue, for Yorkies). There are always parked cars, so she had to cross between them. She stepped out to behind a parked car, looked carefully, saw a car backing out of a drive a little way up which might have been about to come down the road, stepped back to the kerb, and waited.

Pretty much perfect, I'd say.

Arch, thats how i hope any kids of mine cross the road, as they get older and dafter they'll learn when they can fit through a gap in traffic etc

however, my fiancee and I stand at the edge of a road, look to each other and say "peg it" and run (normally in a huge gap) but not a good example to set really

but what does one expect when i'm willing to cross coventry's ring road on foot...

I got a reputation among my mates at Uni (I went as a mature student) for being the only person they knew who still followed the green cross code at 30.

I'm always getting left behind when they leg it, and I'm still looking, left, right...

my fiancee is 21 and often is pulling me across the road, but stops me setting off in larger gaps! (i'm 25, still at uni and thus still allowed to be a bit silly) ;)
