Letting kids go to concerts...

Eldest daughter, 16, wants to go to a Justin Bieber concert.
My wife is absolutely against the idea, so daughter tries to get permission from me.
Either way, one of these two ladies will be upset with my decision.

What should I do? What would you do?

Ha, I reckon she'll be fairly safe at a Beiber concert, especially if you or her mum go with. So.. might have to draw straws!

It's a Justin Beiber concert for friks sake. What is dangerous about a Justin Beiber concert excepting that's it is dangerously rubbish?
Did her mum not ever go to concerts at that age?
Imagine the grief she will get from all her chums that are probably going.

Seriously though, it'll be a seated concert, take a book, an appreciation of ANY music is a fine thing indeed.

What a world, when I was 9 i lived in leicester and went to the motor show at the NEC in birmingham with my 11 year old brother on our own by train, now 16 year olds can't go to a pop concert on their own?!

I think if she is a responsible girl and understands the trust being placed in her then why not? Got to let them go at some point!

16? Bloody hell, I'd been to all manner of rock, metal and punk gigs at that age; a secure evening with some he/she teen idol will be no worries at all!

You should speak to your wife and tell her this is happening and discuss her reasons for your daughter not wanting her to go.

Having said that I was at concerts pretty much every other day when I was 16 (NB I was also a terrible drunkard)

my 14 year old would never be seen dead at a bieber concert, shame she won't get to see siouxsie and the banshees gig though…

I went to see Megadeth when I was 14 and turned out reasonably ok although I might have to join Tilly in the hideous drunkard corner. One bottle of Tesco Value bottle of vodka between 7 of us and whatever else we could get our hands on

Both my daughters were at Reading Festival and many local O2 gigs of heavy rocking bands moshing with her mates long before that. They're pretty damn safe these days and Bieber will be saccharin-benign.
I'm with ianrauk, I'd be more concerned that she wants to go to a Bieber concert at 16, she needs worst better influences ...

My brother damaged his hearing at a Motorhead gig when he was about 15. Not sure Beiber is going to be running his amps at the same level though.
