I use some (recommended by Arch) which are 3M and come from (among others) Amazon, but at a MUCH higher price.

Be interesting to se what Lidl's are like (if they have any here).

As have I. I need to replace mine as they've become quite brittle, but for a fiver its worth a gamble.

Whats thier track pumps like? Seem nice and cheap and am in need of one

i bought that pump last time it was out. It was brilliant for the first 15-20 times i used it, getting my tyres between 90-100 Bar. Then one day i was pumping up my tyres and the pump exploded with a loud bang. The metal tube and come away from the the foot-rest. I couldn't screw it back in as it had been glued together. And i din't fancy gluing it again cos i thought it would just explode again. So it went into the bin. The pump would be ok for Mt Bikes were you dont pump the tyres up to their max, but keep it away from road bikes.

Anyone else find that the jerseys they were advertising on the website are completely different to the ones in the shop ? On the site they are red with black stripes and black with white stripes, but in the 2 shops I went to, they were virtually all black with white stitching and black with large red stripes !! ................... still nice thou

Bought a helmet, gloves and the sports glasses.

The £9 Lidl helmet replaces my old Aldi helmet which was getting a bit bashed and smelly. Nice to see that the soft fabric bits are all removable for washing - unlike the Aldi forehead pad, hence the 'smelly'. The Lidl one is a lot less bulky, though they both weigh 300g. Neat little LED light fits on the strap adjustment knob on the back.

The glasses seem a bit less flimsy than the cheaper ones I had before from Lidl, so maybe the arm won't break off as previously. The orange/yellow lenses are claimed be be anti-fog - we'll see (hopefully!).

Not sure about the gloves yet. I wore them on the way home tonight and found the gel pads make them feel a bit bulky on the bars. I'm not used to a padded glove so I'll give them a week, but at £3 I'm not too bothered if they end up being the spare pair.

They are selling the track pump again. I bought one last year and find it really good. Gets the Airzound up to 80psi with a few strokes. I even use it for topping up the slow puncture on the Volvo brick, and it's a lot easier than a foot-pump.

And I bought a large bar of 81% solids chocolate, 99p. Mmmmm...

100 BAR

I have one of the cheapies too, can get to around 140psi tops, even then that is hard, I wouldn't expect much more than 100 though - more suitable for a MTB than a road bike tbh.

Mine is still going strong a year on though.

The advertised jerseys have a full length zip (more like a wind proof jacket) with different panels. Not available or even priced up in the 2 stores I visited in Cardiff.
Bought one of the long sleave tops anyway and some leggings, all a bit thin but still a bargin.

The black panels on the shoulders of the top give you that nice 80's 5 Star look!

Hi,

I snapped up a few bits too. Some leggings, jerseys, gloves and a cycling jacket for the missus.

Thanks to abchandler for pointing this offer out.

The glasses are pretty good - they were a favourite of mine, but the dog chewed the old pair (he was but a pup at the time).

Capt Hastings, Ben M, what shoe size are you after? I have the last lot of lidl SPD shoes (bought as spares, but never used) in a 43, and Mrs Monkey has been on at me to sell some of the bike stuff cluttering up the house for ages.

Thanks for this post - I now own my first lycra gear! Got all dressed up and went for my first "MAMIL" ride this afternoon. Man, how comfie is lycra?! Why didn't I know about this before?! Not 100% sure how much wicking it was really doing, was still quite sweaty when I got in (though perhaps not as much as I would have been I suppose). How much difference would there be between my £8 Lidl specials and a £60 pair from somewhere reputable?

Trouble is, of course, that the lycra I was wearing prob cost more than the value of my POS bike! So I did indeed look like a proper tw*t, but hey ho, I'm saving for a decent bike slowly... think I'll cope with the tw*t-feelings when I'm trying to do longer (for me, i.e. 15 miles plus!) fitness rides rather than commuting. Wife was in hysterics, took photos of me and is threatening to put them on facebook...

How can I find out about Lidl doing this again in the future? By the time I got there (second day of promo), most of the stuff was already gone, or only dwarf or giant sizes left.

Let her threaten you, far better than chafing in jeans imho. Someone flattered my lycra clad arse earlier. It was a surprise and I am sure they were taking the mick, but I don't care, comfy is as comfy does.

Edinburgh Bike Co-Op's sale has their own brand track pump in it for £9, iirc.

No idea if it's any good, (I got sick of shite "cheap" pumps and bought a Rennkommpressor) but possibly better than Lidls.

Their own brand pump is certainly better than LIDL/ ALDI ones. I find the latter are OK for under 80psi and Schrader but for over that and presta they are useles, my Ed Co One copes with that no problem. Another annoying thing about the Lidl one I find it hard to make a good connection that will give a positive pressure reading.
