What's this "Mickle Method" of chain cleaning?
You use a big can of WD40 for starters.

Interested in the tools kit? Would I use most of the tools on my road bike or this is the type of set which most of the tools don't match the bolts etc??

I got one from Aldi's or Lidl's for my road bike, most of the tools fit, but one or two don't. For example the cone spanners don't fit any of my road bike wheels. Its a bit hit and miss, the BB tool fits one road bike but not the other.

The tool kit is OK. Snapped one of the tyre levers first time, don't know why I bothered trying it as I have a set of Decathlon ones which are perfect.
The rest of the tools are OK. The cone spanners are a bit tinny and it could do with a larger spanner.
I bought mine when there was a voucher in one of the red top papers so keep an eye out for that as it must have been the same time.

just got the lidl leaflet come through, does anyone know if the handlebar/ bar ends are any good?

I'm tempted by the handlebar grips, too, but in Lidl's photo there doesn't seem to be much handlebar space inboard of the grip. Where are the brake lever/changer brackets? All will be revealed in the next half hour...

Just bought these but on way to work so can't fit them until tonight. Also got the 3m reflectors and shorts , all look grand for 22 quid.

Just got back empty-handed. The tool kits are probably good value if you don't have any of the tools already, but I'm sure most of us have picked up bits and pieces with each new maintenance job. The chain cleaner is the Barbieri one (£6 on eBay). I got one a couple of years ago; it only worked one or twice before seizing up, and even when it worked it wasn't great.

Bought the grips today.

Very good for £8

Put on my light tourer

Tool kit is super VFM, but already have most of the tools so passed on it

Just bought a set. Unusually for the price the grips have the all important hex-keyed clamp bolts to stop them moving about, and the material does't look or feel very different to the Ergons GP1s which cost a lot more. The grips are just over 13cm long and weigh 186g a pair. The bar ends are just under 11cm long to the centre of the bar and weigh 142g a pair. Weight wise the grips are bang in the middle of Ergon GP1 L and S weights (202g and 165g) so not bad. Haven't had an opportunity to try them for long, but they feel pretty good to me.

Both are for 22mm bar diameters. They come with two pairs of end caps too in case the grips and barends are to be used independently.

Just bought a set of handlebar grips too.
TBH for £7.99 I presumed it was just bar ends so to get the grips AND ends seem quite a good buy. Obviously others think so too cause I got the last ones in the shop.

Having just bought my first real bike I didn't have any tools and so I'm pretty happy to have picked that up for £25 - it's just a shame I have no idea what to do with any of them (except the allen keys ). Time will tell if it's anygood but I'm not too concerned given the price.

Also picked up the sunglasses which aren't bad either, they are a much better fit and more comfortable than my Endura glasses which were £30.
