Thanks, folks, for posting the photo and dimensions of the grips/bar ends. My handlebars are 2.2cm dia for approx 20cm from the outer ends then they taper out (thicker) towards the stem. There should be enough space for the new grips plus all the other stuff attached to the bars. Heading off to Lidl...

I grabbed a pair of grips and a tool kit. Despite the duplicates I reckon that there was enough in there that I didn't have to make it worth buying. (And it saves me borrowing stuff off Andy next door!)

They also had some cycling shoes in my local one, didn't look carefully though, but got the grips, will play and fit later

I noticed some in York too (not many pairs, though). They weren't shown on the website and were nicer looking than the ones I bought last time IMHO (no weird blue) but I can't really justify having 2 pairs of spare shoes, so didn't bother!

Got some of the spoke reflectors though (I've had some on my commuter for several months and think they're really good, especially over the winter - couldn't resist getting some for a couple of the other household bikes at that price!). Also got some gloves and a packaway jacket, partly because I liked the colour.

I only picked up some gloves and socks. I wanted the gloves as an 'in between' pair as I have wanted gloves that could wear when it's a little too cold for my fingerless gloves but not really cold enough for my full fingered winter gloves.

bah, I'd love to buy it,, but already got a halfords one ( was getting fed up buying new tools, so thought, sod this i'll get the lot), two tool sets is probably a bit OTT

that chain washing thing looks err well 'cheap enough to try out' any thoughts ?

+1
I bought the Halfords set 2 weeks ago but our local store had it on sale at half price so it cost me a paultry £15

Just seen the Shoes in Chelmsford (2x size 8 and 1x size 7 left) are these any good?

I am looking for some for my son and me, my son is quite serious but I am more of a casual user, and fancy more of a "trainer" style, these look quite chunky as if MTB style, would they be too heavy for road use?

For £15 they seem a cheap way of trying out clipless?

Another thanks to those who posted the dimensions & photos of the handlebar grips/bar ends. That helped convince me to try them and get rid of the horrible rubber ones that came with my bike. Luckily there were still a few left when I popped in on the way home yesterday, had a quick ride to try them out this morning and they're great, what an improvement.

Can't believe they are only £8.... at that price I'm tempted to go back and buy another set just to keep for possible future replacements
