Oh they got the spoke reflectors again oh gd may have to get more.

I over-estimated how many I would need, and ended up with a whole unopened packet too many.. (Placed them on every other spoke). Don't think I'll need to buy more for a while!

Toolkit is well worth the money. I only bought it for the bag alone, but the tye levers (3 in mine) seem ok. The multi tool is heavy but again for the cost could get you out of trouble.

Saddlebag is of a good quality, and the multi-tool seems to be pretty good too. Haven't used the tire levers yet, so can't comment on them, but they seem pretty sturdy. Haven't used the puncture repair kit yet either. Don't rely on using the light loop though, as it tends to angle the light significantly downwards (in my experience - Same bag on 2 bikes).

Edit: Peteaud got his post in moments before me! As he said, it's worth it for the saddle bag alone.

I've now bought three lots of Lidl shorts, including yesterday's batch. The first ones I had were roadie above the knee style- only small problem the leg grippers are not that good (really not an issue at all). Decent fit, and the chamois is fine too. The second lot were baggies with a removable liner- no problems whatsoever. Done some big mileage rides in both styles and comfort was fine. Yesterday, I got a couple of pairs of the 3/4s, and they look like the best so far, excellent fit. If they've still got some in your size, get them.

Having saved 100 odd quid going for a cheaper road bike, I got myself down to Lidl on Thursday at lunch.

Bought the padded cycling shorts, the black jersey with the detachable warmers, the floor pump, the saddle bag toolkit and the bike lock.

Went out for a long ride this weekend. The padded shorts are great for absorbing those bumps on the road and good fit too. The jersey was nice and light and the arm warmers excellent as it was still nippy yesterday. You need to be careful with sizing as I find they are smaller/tighter than you might expect.

I've not used the bike pump yet but when equivilant ones are going for 15 in Tesco and 20 in Halfords etc, it's great value and looks well constructed. The toolkit looks decent too, I really only wanted the bag and the rest is a bonus.

Any thoughts on the bike lock? It looks secure(as possible for the price) but was worried it's to short. Seems 90cm is standard size so was thinking of using it conjunction with these from ebay here. Anyone used the oxford lock?

Anyone bought the cycle computer? Is it wireless or wired to connect to the wheels?

They didn't have locks in my store, but my opinion is that locks are one of the few things you should skimp out on. If you are going to be leaving your new road bike for any length of time, I'd advise you spend a bit on a decent U-Lock.

The cycle computer is wired. It works reasonably well, and has many functions - However is a little chunky, and the bracket rattles around a little.
