That time of year again. I've a good 2-3 miles of almost pitch black and my front light that i thought was going to illuminate this in fact simply highlights my presence. My headlamp (improvised because i have a spare front light) lights the way but is not all-encompassing.

I need a new front light, something in the 0-£40 range. Advice and possibly comparison pics if you have any?

Good morning,

I use two of these

They are CREE Single LED lights and with both on I am happy to ride at full speed on unlit roads.

They were about £25 for the pair with good handlebar mounts off ebay, the only downside is battery life. With cheap rechargeables (3 AAA per light) after about 20 minutes they are getting dim. Better batteries would probably give 40-50 minutes.

If I set both to flashing, battery life obviously increases, with a surprisingly small loss of light.

Bye

Ian

I like the look of this; will look into this further.

Battery life would be a concern for me. My commute is 2 x 40min rides a day, 5 days a week. Might steer clear!

splash out on lights they keep you safe and not worth cheaping out on if you hav e"bee seen" lights and need light/s to "see by" get a lezyne superdrive i have two and they brill battery last 1:50-2hrs on HIGH mode and you get a usb charge lead so i charge mine at work for the return journey ( 1:20min commute each way)
