Lighter Lock?

I've had a D-Lock for about 5 years. An Abus one. It's done the job great, I've just got bored with how heavy it is - even though, at 1.2 kg, it's by no means the heaviest around.
Anyone know anything lighter that still seriously deters thieves?

When I bought it five years ago the Squire Paramount Urban was the lightest Sold Secure Gold rated full size D lock available at 980g. I don't know if that's still the case.

Thanks to both of you. The Squire one is more appealing to me as has longer 'D'. But am I prepared to shell out £50 to lose 200g? I'll let you know...

buy enough locks to leave one every where you lockup, then you can go heavy and secure and cheaper

I got three plus a light cheap one in case, them things are too heavy to carry

Thanks, Tynan. I have indoor parking at both work and home. I go a lot through town (Liverpool, sometimes Manchester or London) but need to lock up while buying this & that or going to libraries & offices. Always for short periods, but still don't want to risk a cheapo lock.

D-lock and an Abus Bordo... ? Just got the Bordo as it's compact but a cropper resistant lock .... it's used with a gold d-lock. My big Gold duty chain lock stays at base as it's 10 lbs in weight...the ABUS Bordo chucks out the need for my crap coil lock that suplements a Gold D Lock, with little weight and space penalty...

Abus Bordo looks good - thanks for that. It also looks flexible in awkward locking situations. Do you find it quick to lock and unlock?

This is of course generally going to be the case. Looking on the Abus website, there is:
Bordo Granit X-Plus folding: 1.6 kg, security rating of 15
(my current lock): Granit Strato 61 300mm : 1.2kg, security rating of 10
(what Fossyant suggests): Bordo Combo 75cm: 1kg, security rating of 8

The problem is that when you compromise on weight, you often compromise on security.

That can be the case, but it doesn’t necessarily follow.
My Squire has the same rating and scores the same in tests as the Onguard lock I leave at work which weighs over twice as much. Onguard achieved this level of security by adding more material, they can do this and still sell the lock for £25. Squire achieved the same with a better locking mechanism and harder steel, so it weighs half as much but costs twice as much.

I have a D-lock I bought in 1983-ish (Kryptonite)
OK, it wasn't used between 1986 and 1991, but it's been in fairly regular use since then, and in frequent use over the last 4 years. I use it at work, in addition to a fairly hefty cable lock.
