Lighter version of Rohloff on the way.

I'm posting this in the caff because it might be of general interest.

I read in a German bike mag today that Rohloff is about a year away from introducing a 20% lighter version of his speed hub. It will still have 14 equally spaced gears but the range will go up from 520% to 580%. Because it will be a bit lighter and smaller it may be that he won't recommend it for tandems and extreme cycling.

Why would 'smaller' and 'lighter' make it unsuitable for tandems and 'extreme' cycling? Is 'weaker' going to be a feature?
