Earlier in the year I bought a topeak trunk bag with zip away panniers, I've been using it all year and have been really pleased with the size and aero dynamics of it. Problem is, it's that time of year where i want to reinstall my lights. I have a magic shine rear light which I attach to my seat post, but now the trunk bag will obscure it. Now do I refit my old panniers (dont really want to) which dont obscure the seat post, or is there some kind of attachment I can use to run my magicshine rear light with my trunk bag, which I'd prefer. What have others done in a similar situation?

Can you not mount it on the rear of the rack?

As above, but if you struggle (or can't be a**ed) to make/fit a bracket, the easiest way is to use some plastic plumbing pipe....easy to cut, and fasten on with tie wraps/insulating tape.

Similar for front. You can't beat widening your lights.....makes you look bigger on the road.

I wondered if there was anything already on the market that would attach to the pannier rack, if there isnt then I guess ill have to get the welder out and knock something together like yours HovR, nice job lol

There are brackets for certain lights, I have one that I fit my Smart light to, you'd have to find out if the MS one is available.

the model I have is MJ-818 it connects with a rubber o ring, it wont connect to the pannier without an adapter or diy modification by the looks of it. I'll have to see what I can knock up as I'd rather keep using my trunk bag through the winter. Thanks for the thoughts and ideas

I am going to do that on my commuter, that is a great tip. I might even be able to mount two battery LEDs either side of my B&M dynamo rackmount light.

I bought one of these to hang a back light from and I hang a smaller light from the loop on the rack bag itself. The bracket screws onto the rack and is sturdy enough to hold even a relatively heavy light. I use a cable tie to keep it extra secure just in case. Gez

Sorry, it wasn't my picture (found it on Google) but glad I could help.

That's some serious lighting power you have there, Fossy!

You can unscrew the rubber curved mount on the back of the MJ-818, you can then screw this to other objects to use as a mount.

In the past I have screwed the MJ-818 on reflector brackets and directly onto my rack (it has a plate at the back to put lights on) with no issues.
