Lights - do you use rechargeables or not?

Just wondering what the preference is amongst those of us that use lights requiring standard (AA, AAA etc) batteries. Do you use rechargeables or not?

I used to go with rechargeables, but their propensity to 'die' suddenly worried me, so at the moment I'm using Duracells (which I got while they were on offer).

I use rechargeables for my Tesco torches because they get through batteries quickly so it's far more economical. For the lower power rear lights I mainly use cheap AAAs which I get cheaply from the uni's engineering stores.

Yes. I bought a job lot a year ago.

And yes they do die suddenly, but I carry spares and a back up smaller light front and back.

Yes. Saves a fortune.

I change them round every Monday, so that they don't run down on me. Need to be careful, because the time from percieved 2/3 full brightness to dead is about 1 minute. I also carry a little plastic holder with 4 spare batteries in it in my tool bag.

Also use them for the alarms fitted to the bikes. Change those on the 1st Monday of the month, so they don't run out.

I have dynamo and battery lights so not a disaster if they do go flat though.

I use Vapex 2700maH rechargeables.
They're slightly fatter than normal batteries ,which is worth bearing in mind, but they give massive bang for the buck.

I hate throwing away batteries with some charge left in them - and yet I don't want to run with really weak lights - so its rechargeables for me - I don't feel guilty charging them when they still have power left in them.

That and I forget when I'm using normal batteries and put them in the charger - eventually they go pop:ohmy::blush:

Hub dynamo powering front and rear led lighting with a separate system which uses rechargeables (front and rear Dinottes). I don't have the front battery light on but can use it if for some reason the dynamo system fails. I only need charge the batteries for the rear Dinotte a couple of times a week usually, and if I forget there's a backup.

Plus I've got some cheap Tesco flashers in my bag, just in case.

I also use some Smart superflash rears on some other bikes. I use rechargeables in all my battery lights, and always have a spare.

Except when I forget and have to buy some crappy front light from a hardware store which falls into the road and breaks after the first pothole.

Yes, I have Li-on in both my white lights. My tail lights have throw away batteries. But then again, these seem to last for ages and only need changing about once or twice per winter season.

I use re-chargeables on the front lights(hope vision1) charged up Sunday night and they last all week.
Normal AAA on the rear as I tend to use flash mode mainly and they seem to last ages.Carry spare AAA on both bikes but none for the front as even if one goes should be OK on the other to get home.

I use rechargables, and recharge my batteries on a cyclical basis at work.

Tues: Headlamp One
Weds: Headlamp Two
Thurs: Rear One
Fri: Rear Two

That simple!
