Lights - do you use rechargeables or not?

I use sanyo eneloop AA,
2 of them will power my LD20 on hight for around 4-5 hrs.

I mostly use Smart 1/2 watt superflash rears, powered by AAA NiMHs.

Does your Smart chew batteries? When I got mine I was under the delusion that it would not need its batteries replaced often (I think I'd read how Cateye rears often lasted a whole season); but I've had to put a new set in; and when I did that I bought rechargeables; now I've had to go get more rechargeables.

They do eat batteries. I've got a smart 7 as well and you can clearly see the comparison then which it burns at a much slower rate.

Just out of interest - can you still get those lights that run off a dynamo that sits on the front wheel rim?

I remember them from the late '80s.

Something like that would be perfect for my shopping bike!

I use Duracell rechargable batts in my bike lights. It might just be a case of snobbery but they seem to be just as good as single use. I must of saved loads of money on these. I also use the AA size for my wireless mouse and portable radio.
The mrs uses the AAA for her head torch when rigging professional lights shows.

Edit: Both 1.2 volts which some have said have caused them problems.
