OK, ordered for £72 from Milletts with free delivery. Thanks for flagging that up as a great deal. Will let you all know what I think

I have a Helinox, had it for nearly 2 years now, they were only £60 (!) back then. It is still going strong, no problems, I am 6'3" and 102 kg (was 110 kg) and it holds me no problems. The only complaint is that they are quite close to the ground, but it is not nearly as bad as sitting on the ground. Pack size is about the size of a shoe. Last used for stage 1 TDF hanging around.

Just googled around and found a replica Helinox on Ebay (by Seaflo). Then found this review on a motorbike forum. http://ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?375489-Helinox-style-chair Could be worth a punt for someone on a low budget who doesn't weigh tons

Well the helinox arrived. Very much sturdier thanI thought - the alloy tubes are thicker and the rubber feet bigger than expected.Dead easy to assemble (20 secs) and packs back into the bag very easily with no cramming. Not weighed it yet to double check though.

A 30 second trial says very comfy and stable. I weigh 88kg and it seemed fine. Also the position is good - not too low or too upright, but equally it will be fine for sitting and eating off a plate.

I compared sitting in a Mantis and a Helinox today. I must say the Mantis is a slightly bigger chair, but lighter, and slightly more reclined. I almost nodded off as it is higher in the back, although, frustratingly not high enough that it can support your head so you can actually nod off. I was impressed with it's engineering quality though, very stout 7005 aluminium tubing and joiners where as the Helinox has moulded plastic junction housings. The Heli by comparison is a smaller and slightly more upright chair but slightly heavier and also cheaper, but still a very good chair. I think I'm gonna go for the Mantis tomorrow.

Well the £24.99 Helinox copy seems pretty good for the money, have just ordered another one which should be here in time to take on tour next week.
We have a Helinox 1 chair. Its excellent. I take it to picnics, football matches and of course it came to stage 2 of Le Tour. I haven't yet taken it camping though my OH has.
It's very comfy, the legs sink in so I need to eat some pringles and use the lids as load spreaders.
Anyway, we decided we'd get another so that we had one each, I've had a look at the seaflo and can't see the difference so have just ordered one. My helinox is green to match the tent, so the seaflo will ruin the colour coordination, but at a saving of £50 I don't suppose I can complain!

Ok so here's what happened. The Millets' Helinox chair seemed fine but had an electronic security/ink tag on. Sent it back and then miraculously, they had no stock. So I went for a Mantis from Cotswold. Free delivery and 15% off with the CTC code AF-CTC-M7 (available freely online!) so £85.

Much tougher looking material and stitching than the Helinox, and the tubing looks like something from a spaceship that will last years. Big rubber feet like the end of a walking stick. As someone said, a bit more reclined than the Helinox. Extremely comfy and easy for me to heft my 88kg body in and out of even though low down.

Weighs 869g in its stuff sack (31g) so a lot more than the stated 725g, but I am sitting in it now with a cup of tea and very happy. Will be ideal for the beach too
