whatever your mind is like, have you ever come across another rider...a stranger...who rides just like you and who you seem to immediately gel with, to the point that the two of you seem to instinctively ride together for some time and enjoy each other's company...and the ride...all the more.

A while back I rode with a chap who had previously frustrated me (for an unrelated reason). He was a fantastic rider, very confident, very courteous and super aware. We took turns in front and seemed to be making the same signals, thanking the same drivers/riders/peds as each other and shared a terrific pace for a good 15 miles. I don't often strike up chats with other riders but at the only set of red lights we shared, I told him he was a great rider, he returned the compliment and we went our own way shortly afterwards.

One of the best rides home I have ever had.

If you see him again, ask his name. I'm guessing Tyler Durden.

My commute is pretty much devoid of other bikes going my way, but I did a charity ride a few years ago and spent nearly the whole distance getting on famously with a lad after we'd shared a wry smile at some nodder doing the whole must barge to the front of a traffic light queue bit then falling back as the rest of us sailed past him again and again.

Pretty good going for me as I'm not great with small talk and new people.

As slow as me?
Impossible
We should commute together. I tracked myself on map my ride the other day - avarage speed 7.2 mph!
Don't see many ladies with baskets and flowery panniers round these parts, it seems to mostly be the preserve of lycra'd up hi viz lovers.
