Not that long ago I test rode a pre-loved Tiger. Nice bike. But TLH went bonkers. Was told later that the next test rider was 20+ years younger than me and put himself in A&E less than a mile from the dealers.

I passed my bike test 5/3/81 on a Suzuki GT250. The day after my 17th birthday and never looked back. It's all a bit more complicated nowadays.

Ok, got yer. Well done. Motorbikist meself. In fact I spent a year teaching CBT, but not on big bikes. Teaching folk on 125s was enough for me. Gave it up ... too much stress ... after a lady piled into the kerb on an auto scooter (not hurt thankfully) thinking she'd slow down if she OPENED the throttle.
Anyhow ... good luck with the on-road bit mate.

I wonder where that happened? My wife saw someone do that when she went for her CBT

Congratulations!
You'll be fine on a big bike, 600's aren't really a great deal different to the superbikes, it's only the extra torque that you need to adapt to. They all only go as fast as your wrist tells them to anyway.
I'm too old for the superbikes now, a 1000cc V twin is more than fast enough for me, sounds lovely and has loads of character. Just wish I had more time to ride the thing!

Congratulations on passing. Passed my Mod 2 two Mondays ago and the Mod1 a week and a half before that. It's 18 years since I passed my car test and I didn't enjoy having the same nerves. Unlike the car test I passed both of bike tests first time . Did both on an XJ6. I'm still riding the 110cc bike I've had for 18 months. I really want to get a bigger one, probably a sports tourer style like a fazer, hornet or SV650, but it'll have to wait for now. Loved the engine braking on the XJ6. Made the hazard avoidance and emergency stop a doddle. As soon as I was through the speed trap in second gear the throttle went off and the speed with it. The ABS brakes helped too .

Final comment for now. After 6-12 months of riding, get on an Institute of Advanced Motorists bike course. Best thing I ever did. Cheap, but worth its weight in gold!

I've got this planned as well. The motorcycle school I used for my DAS recommended waiting until I get my bigger bike in a few months before doing it. If it's much longer than that before I get a bigger bike I'll hire a school bike as I like them. The advanced is a no brainier at around £60 for the course.
