Got my money in the bank and having a look around the local dealers this weekend. Hoping to get a part exchange on mine but if not it'll be up for sale now the weather is picking up slowly. There's plenty of sports tourers around at different prices at local dealers but not much in the way of tourers. One of the bikes I'll be looking at is a BMW GS650 abs which is low mileage but has had several owners in it's short lifespan. Not sure why or if that means anything. Looks nice on the website. Also a fazer, bandit and XJ-6 diversion are on the look at list. I'm hoping I can get a decent PX offer before the sales pick up for an easy life. Insurance is one concern although my premium went up a bit when I passed my test .

I'm one of those people who passed their full bike test in the 70s so is allowed to jump straight on any bike. Don't think I will though.

Cheers, there's plenty to look through. As I'm not too familiar with the mechanics of it I'm still looking at dealers first. A few of the branded dealers still have minimum standards of warranty and checks on used bikes regardless of manufacturer/model. I'll buy one I like the look and feel of with test drives etc. Found an SV650 to look at from another dealer on Saturday as well which is a contender. I don't mind going under budget for a sports tourer and saving money for any possible future maintenance work.

I had a look at the smaller engined variants of V-Stroms which have a good user following but they're not cheap used. I'd be more moved to buy a new one in future when I've got more experience/no claims and could use it properly.

Made a purchase today. XJ-6 diversion. Excellent condition (hope to keep it that way!) and looks perfect for me.

Couldn't add the pictures I took on my phone so hope this link works for a bit. This is the actual bike I'll be picking up after the weekend.

Same here (well, not the 70's, but got in on the unrestricted licence just before they changed the regs )

Thanks . Luckily this one comes with brakes and it's not the first time I've ridden one.
