This man almost literally wrote soundtrack to my adolescence. It's incredibly sad to hear he's passed. A stark reminder that no matter how successful a person may seem on the outside, they're not immune from visits by the black dog.

I hope he's found the peace he wanted, my thoughts are with those he left behind.

I was introduced to their music by our youngest son and I have to say I enjoyed their work.

So sad. May he RIP.

Oh no, another great tortured and talented rock/metal vocalist gone.

I loved the vocals of Layne Stayley, Chris Cornell and later on Chester Bennington.

Chester vocalised all the emotional turmoil into truly great music.

A sad loss, may he at last find peace.

Well, that all went wrong quite spectacularly. A cleanup of the thread has been undertaken and although measures have been taken to prevent a repeat I'll still ask that the thread be used to pay respects rather than speculate on the reasons.

Linkin Park were the band of my youth and still get played regularly - it's a sobering reminder of my own struggles with depression. Lyrics of many tracks ever poignant.
