I watched that the other day. Can't get past the first min!
What is the stopping distance of a guy on skates at 20mph?

Near the start, classic junction design for rljers. Only a risk coming from the right with an open view.

They seem to stop pretty well at a couple of crossings... some of that is a bit hairy though...

Some of what he does is mad, but at 1min 25secs the guy stops at traffic lights and 2 bikes jump the lights!!!

love it - I love the bikes getting dropped... especially the ones who RLJ when you don't

Must be great fun with all that effectively stationary traffic.

...not to mention jumping red light

I didn't think red lights applied to pedestrians? correct me if I am wrong ;)
Last I heard the legal status of rollerskates/blades had not been decided in law... so they may or may not be vehicles and hence may or may not have to obey traffic signals/signs and may or may not be allowed on pavements.

Probably doesn't fit here, but hey that's what thread drift is about.

My only experience of a blade rider on the pavement was a few years ago. He was coming towards me at a fair lick and was being a bit of a tw*t barging through other pedestrians. I could see that the only way he would get past me without contact would if I turned sideways and held my breath, so I set myself and braced for impact. Next thing he is laying on the deck with a surprised look on his face. I doubt it made any difference to his attitude.

How efficient are rollerblades vs cycling?

They suck, sadly. It's much much harder work, maybe 40% than an average bicycle, and slow down much more over rougher surfaces. Much more manoeuvrable though.

Touche, a twat will be a twat no matter what form of transport they use. My mate in this video isn't perfect, but he's fairly considerate towards others IME. If anyone tried to check him I don't think it'd be him on the ground, btw.

I didn't watch it all (life is too short  ) but I'm surprised that you reckon the bit from about 35 to 55 seconds is ok, BM. Through lanes of traffic, across a red light and round the right of a bus which is indicating right when he has no visibility of what is in front of it. Didn't look that considerate to me.

OK, watched it all now, I was right in my initial impression. Lane hopping and going onto and off pavements at that speed wouldn't win him many admirers.

What's the camera attached to? It seems remarkably steady but he turns it round near the beginning to show that he's on skates.
