Riding home last night with a tailwind so a bit faster than usual with 2 handlebar lights (one flashing) and a helmet flashing light so I'm hard to miss when this moron pulls turns right from a side street on the other side of the road into my path. I ring my bell and brake as we're both heading for the same bit of road. He's now level with me with the window wound down saying "what the f****ing hell is your problem"

What is it with these idiots. He'd totally misjudged his manoeuvre or he couldn't see me for all my lights, but never mind that it was my fault wasn't it afterall. The ride just worse after that. Funny how one incident starts off a succession of bad driving.

There's never enough time to say a complete sentence in these scenarios. It all happens in a flash and they yell their abuse and drive off. It's only afterwards we think of things that we could have said. I'm always surprised how nasty people get so quickly even when they've caused the incident and get lost for words. They really wouldn't behave like this on the pavement, on the train or around the shops would they? It's only because they CAN drive off annonymously that peoples real natures show and unfortunately driving a car seems to bring out this ugly character trait.

+1000.

Spot on, given a chance to go "toe to toe" with these people and you'll be amazed at how many become very polite and understanding.

I see this a lot, they have to get out in front of you in case they are then stuck behind. I normally go into a very strong primary if i can, makes them cut the corner and thus risk mixing it with traffic coming the other way.

This is very true, happened to me (posted about it on this very forum early last year)
peanut in BMW took exception to me overtaking and stopping in ASL on A21. He started beeping and shouting abuse. Told him to shut up idiot, so he decided to get out of his car. So though right I'll have some of this. Got off my bike went nose to nose and said what then fek is your problem? I must have looked angrier with the result he suddenly became all defensive, hands up etc. I said get back in your effin car you moron as your holding up the traffic. He did so then shot off tyres a screeching..

Don't worry, people either don't give a s**t or don't look. I all honesty it's not just cyclists who get this. At the beginning of this year, iirc, I was pedalling down the A10 towards cambridge round the M11 roundabout at a fair old lick, it was the tail end of rush hour. This guy overtakes me as we're pulling off the roundabout, a little tight but nothing to be to worried about. I see movement from right to left just in front of the overtaking car & jab the brakes on, at the same time he suddenly does an emergency stop, pulls hard into the kerb with the horn going. Turns out there was a guy going from the offside lane to the nearside & the guy didn't look almost taking out the guy. The response was "Didn't see ya there, sorry!".

I have posted this before...

USE Exposure Enduro Maxx, one of the brightest lights on the market.

Taxi pulls out at junction and we end up with me 6" away from door with light full on vehicle, so I ask if he couldn't see me.

He replies that he thought I was a motorbike...... so in the interests of clarification I ask if he thinks that pulling out in front of a large fast mechanical vehicle is an improvement on pulling out in front of a bicycle.

The reply.... Motorcycles have better brakes and could have stopped easier!

So from the mouth of Portsmouth's finest taxi drivers - it is up to you to stop not for him to actually respond in an appropriate way to a bright light approachingthe junction at speed!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Talking of taxi drivers the wife recounted to me today of on P**k of a taxi driver behind her the other day.
Mrs Ck was at a T junction waiting to turn right, it was nearly 5 so very busy and the taxi driver sat behind beeping his horn i mean WTF where was she supposed to go to ?
