Went to get the bike from secure bike store on another site....oh..green light on, door locked, swipe card didn't work...bugger.

Another cyclist turns up, her card didn't work. Double bugger.

Go to reception - "erm bike shelter door won't open".... 'Yup I know...how did you get it in there....." - "Was working at lunch" I say.

"Have you got a stick"....I say. ;)

Out comes a window pole, off I trot, and pop the internal door release button..............flipping great...been warning Facilities about the fact the 'secure' bike storage isn't SECURE for exactly this reason - I just proved it.......

Email to Facilities on Monday.....

At least it wasn't nicked though.

I have a secure(ish) storage area, i.e. 24/7 security guard and bike park in secure courtyard, but I still lock my bike as well as security guard can wonder off and leave the door unlocked!

thanks to some previous bother with burglars my new place has a yard out back for bikes protected by a 15ft wall, the door is metal and rather strong, topped with enough razor wire to satisfy a WW1 general and two high security locks on said metal door

there's a Colditz style iron gate that closes off the archway to the street after work too

Makes my "lock bike to compound fence outside office" seem a little bit un-secure ;).

The only plus is that my office is right above the compound and if I hear anyone near it I can watch them out the window (it is short cut for the local school brats)

My bike parking for work is great. Its downstairs in the back. If someone wants to steal it, they will have to know where in the back it is, and know its there. Then they will have to get it past the person/persons on that floor, up the stairs and past the people on the main floor to get it out the door.
Its great, i can park my bike there pretty much whenever i want, not just when im working, and know it will be there when i get back:becool:
