Anyone seen one of these

View attachment 3540

I found this in our loft, basically it is a metal box attached to the wall with a front that opens upward, with vents and padlock fittings at both ends. In situe it looks like a tall metal locker turned on its side, its about that sort of size. I haven't seen anything like it before and no one else who's seen the photo knows what it is. An Internet search has drawn a blank as well. We also found an old cine projector up there, 1950's?, so we are speculating that it might be film storage

A gun cabinet is, indeed, exactly what it is.

It's a porn cabinet.

1920's porn was made on 3 foot (old money) long scrolls, and had to be stored in a cool dark place after use.

The biggest killer in 1930's suburban life was dirty old men in their slippers and dressing gowns falling down loft ladders............

...............................I think

 Thanks Comedy Pilot, very good

A gun cabinet? I hadn't thought of that, that raises some interesting questions I'll look more closely at that thanks.

Now you have a reason to get that .22 which you have been promising yourself!

It's written "tu-tu".

"No joke if there's a 'bally' gun in the loft old chap!"

I gave away a gun cabinet last year - took it to the South of France. My friend André had guns all over the house. He didn't want it, but his wife made him take it and put his stuff away. Two independently keyed locks, further lockable cabinet inside for ammunition / pistols etc. It weighed about 60kg and when I installed it for a customer in yet another cupboard in his Central London flat, the Police made an official inspection to test the fixings / locks etc.
Then Dunblane happened and he gave all his guns to the Hong Kong Shooting Club.
Never thought to sell it - aw 'shoot!'

I thought it was a personal Iron Maiden type torture device for an unruly Wife... quite how you get her up to the loft against her will though would take some planning (and/or a baseball bat to the temple, perhaps).

I think 'tu-tu' was supposed to be a joke.
