Anyone going on the Bikeathon tomorrow? I was aiming to do the 50 with my daughter but she was taken into hospital a few days ago and isn't able to do it. (She's out now, but not ready for a bike ride yet)
I've done this ride about half a dozen times over the years and quite enjoyed it with quite a few friends joining in.
Last year, a mate and I were aiming to do the 70 mile Olympic Route but he managed to trip over his grandson and break his foot when he fell of his patio!! I went on my own and still had a great time as I soon met up with a few people for a chat on the way round. I actually rode 84 miles by the end as I did the Box Hill circuit twice.
The only thing that I'm not keen on this year is that all the routes and distances start at Chelsea Hospital and there is no parking anywhere near it! Previously, I've parked at either Ham Common or Thames Barrier and started from there. Easy and free parking.
Maybe I will contact them and explain the problem for people who drive from a distance away to help them raise some funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
