ACME including Amy had a London Floris London debrief at The Compasses last night.

LFL Rider from Maine, USA who randomly stopped outside The Compasses whilst I was there at lunchtime. One of us had a volunteer T-shirt on. I said he should head out, and say to the rider welcome to Dalkeith and ask for his brevet card. We invited Rick to join us for lunch.

I thank the fates which turned me south to York (and a train to Hessle) at noon, and not ride on to Rainton or even Richmond. I had in mind, in extremis, to turn into one of the several Catterick Garrison guardrooms and play the 'exhausted veteran' card and see if they'd let me sleep in a cell.

A volunteer had a Bickerton at Richmond. I had a go on it, its frame was made of wet noodles 😂

Essentially they stopped / paused / temporarily not riding at Rainton and a local took them in. The point of my post was that locals were being helpful and kind.
