I am going to a TV recording at the BBC this evening after work, and I've hardly ever been west of Hyde Park.

Can anyone recommend a convenient route from Tottenham Court Road to Shepherd's Bush?

I can usually manage to find my way through Fitzrovia/Marylebone to Paddington station (usually busy and slow, anyone know a relatively quiet route?), but beyond that is unfamiliar to me. I can cope with the main road (Bayswater Road-Notting Hill Gate-Holland Park Avenue, but I imagine it won't be particularly pleasant, and probably quite jammed with traffic at that time of day.

Many thanks in advance.

I used to do that bit of main road as part of my commute and tbh it's not that bad in the evening - I have a habit of getting lost so I like to keep it simple. The roundabout and one way system at Shepherds bush are not as bad as they look but can be avoided by turning left down Holland Park Avenue and wiggling through the back streets. Just make sure you're in the correct lane at the one way system for wood lane - or you can cut across the green on the cycle path.
