London route advice?

Yep that tallies. Cars slow and bother me very little. But it’s a constant avoiding crappy cyclists who are more likely to do minor prang rather than serious injury. But it’s endemic.

I understand that. I have mixed feelings about e-scooter riders, e-motorbikes and people racing on their pedal bikes; one part of me deplores their lack of consideration, but the other part recognizes that they are part of tipping the balance away from the motor vehicle to two wheeled transport.

Tl:dr All two wheeled road users help raise awareness of us.

It got quite a bit better over around a decade. But since covid the rapid expansion of food delivery ebikes has dragged it back down. The sad part are the new cyclists who follow the lead of the delivery bikes and so the standard has noticeable dropped. Definitely far more near misses with other bikes than motor veh. these days.

On my occasional jaunts through the centre I notice and tut at the general two-wheeled behaviour as I sedately trundle through. But I can't be too judgemental because what I'm seeing, recklessly whizzing across junctions, is my former self.

Being the proud owner of an over 60s oyster card that gets me around for free (after 9am) I don't do this much.
