Not to worry, I'll cycle around London (both inner and outer) and this is what I thought.
1. Using road pedals in London sucks. I really ought to change my road bike to dual sided MTB pedals like on my previous rb.
2. Riding on the north circular road sucks. Riding on the footpath of the NCR sucks. There are many road signs on the footpath (why not put road signs...on the road?). This blocks the footpath thus necessitating going onto the road.
3. I ought to learn how to use my Garmin. I suck. (No doubt someone will insert an inappropriate comment here)..
4. Just as I was getting annoyed at this waste-of-time ride, the pavement opened up, the bike lane smoothed out, and I picked up the pace. Things were looking good again!
Facts:
Rode 100km in traffic. Took a long lunch. Spent 8 hours out. I lost a glove. The weekend drivers seem rather aggressive so I had to take charge of the road. Sorry to annoy any drivers but ya know, screw you. Being the idiot that I am, I should have chosen an out-of-town route.
