For those of you who haven’t experienced it, the London to Brighton veteran car run is a brilliant day on a bicycle.

This year it’s on Sunday 2 November.

You get to ride alongside some fabulous machinery, not just the cars, but also historic bicycles and motorbikes. The atmosphere is brilliant with plenty of cheering spectators. Some stretches are even on closed roads.

Usually we meet either at the start (Hyde Park) 7.00am-ish, or East Croydon station (8.30am). Last year it was mostly at East Croydon - and there were about 25 of us.

From there it’s a loose peloton for as far as you like. Elevenses in Crawley, and no problem getting a train home from Brighton.

Here's the route the cars take.

I'm aiming for East Croydon for 8.30am, leaving shortly afterwards. Anyone else?

Just curious, why not start cycling from Hyde Park?

Thanks for the reminder. And sending one to @lazybloke.

Thanks Shadow. It's on my calendar, weather permitting. Possibly from Croydon, but more likely from Redhill/Horley/Gatwick area, so will have to do a phone number swap with someone to work out an appropriate rendezvous.

Bikes (and Penny Farthings) set off just before the cars. It’s on open roads, so while you might not be welcome to cross the start line, you’re free to tag on from Hyde Park Corner
