Just wondering if there's anyone interested in doing the London to Brighton run 1st November 2026 in and amongst the veteran cars, some returning by train... Has been a nice sociable ride in the past with an elevenses break at Crawley. No problem getting on trains back from Brighton

For those of you who haven’t experienced it, the https://www.veterancarrun.com/ is a brilliant day on a bicycle.
This year it’s on Sunday 1st November.

You get to ride alongside some fabulous machinery, not just the cars, but also historic bicycles and motorbikes. The atmosphere is brilliant with plenty of cheering spectators. Some stretches are even on closed roads.
Usually some meet either at the start (Hyde Park) 7.00am-ish, or Streatham Common where I start from, or East Croydon station (8.30am). Last year it was mostly at East Croydon - and there were about 25 of us.

From there it’s a loose peloton for as far as you like. Elevenses in Crawley, and no problem getting a train home from Brighton.

for those who want to join me
Meet on A23 Streatham Common 7.45 am for an 8 am start next to petrol station on south side of common then to cycle down to meet other cyclists outside East Croydon station at 8.30 ...Bob

I’m in. So long as it’s not (too) wet.
Will be starting at East Croydon.

Provided it is a pleasant, dry day, I will ride my annual jaunt along the quiet lanes of sussex to Staplefield, up the hill to Handcross, grab a coffee from the Scouts, watch the cars, maybe meet up with others at a Crawley caff to join the peloton down to the seafront.
If its wet I shall be at home.

Am exceedingly busy but will aim to keep the calendar clear for this.

It's always a good day; the sights, sounds and smells are like nothing else.
Those weird old cars are quite good too!
