having not been back on a bike for more than a month this does seem a little nuts but i got asked if i wanted to take part and having lost my mum to breast cancer in 09, i couldn't say no really...i'm looking forward to it but i definitely need to get some training runs in, over and above my work commute - it's a 60 mile trip

60 mile trip but flat as a pancake.
If you are a competent cyclist you will have no problem.

Plus you will doing the ride with a lot of like minded people which always makes the miles go by quicker.
Good luck with your ride.

The pace is usually quite laid-back on such rides as well, since most of the participants are fundraisers with a bike who want a fun day out with a bit of challenge; rather than Thursday clue racing whippets.
