London to Southend - accident near Mountnessing

During the London to Southend ride on Sunday. Just before Mountnessing, just after 10:30. We passed a couple of young women being tended to by paramedics, who were laying in the road and not moving. Does anybody know what happened to them? I can't get the image out of my head and I hope they were not badly injured.

Passed there around 9:30 so didn't see anything, hope there both ok!!

I came through just as one ambulance was leaving - asked the marshall if they were ok and she said "I hope so", which didn't sound terribly good. The ambulances are in the video clip here:
