I have a slightly longer commute than that, although I only do it twice a week (I only work 3 days a week now, and one of those from home).

I leave shoes, shampoo & shower gel and a spare keyboard & mouse permanently in the office. My laptop & work clothes go in a 25L rucksack on my back.

My commute is just over 15 miles (25km) each way, and it usually takes between an hour and 65 minutes. Which means I'm riding a little faster than you, but not very much.

I am around the same 16 miles each way and around 1 hr 5 to 1 hour 10 eachway.

20 km each way is very doable — I commute in London on a mid-drive e-bike (Bafang 80Nm motor) and the tired-legs problem basically disappears; you arrive fresh enough that the whole shower-and-change logistics get simpler.

On luggage: ditch the backpack if you haven't already. I ran a backpack for my first months and switched to panniers — night and day, especially in summer.

One maintenance heads-up at your mileage: city stop-start riding eats drivetrains. Mine needed a new chain, rear derailleur and hanger at under 800 km — a £160 service at the shop sorted it, but a £10 chain-wear checker would have caught the chain earlier and saved the rest. Worth checking yours before it starts skipping.
