N London cycler here, just signed up so saying hello.
Inspired to join here after getting a new bike as part of my "get in shape" regime (a Specialized Sirrus, I know, unoriginal, but I do love it) to ride in to work on, and ride in my spare time. Prior to that I had a Raleigh Max 21 speed full suspension mountain bike which I've owned for 11 years (you know how it is when you're a kid, it *has* to be a mountain bike, with full suspension, more gears than you can shake a stick at with the cool GripShift system), and having used that for most of last year when cycling to football training and witnessing first hand just how unsuitable it is, now that I've re-entered the world of work and wanting to cycle on a more regular basis, I decided to get myself a proper road going bike. The difference is pretty amazing.
