Ride It Like You Stole It!
Location
South Manchester
Mine had about 1mm sidewall left ! You can't get away with it if running very high pressure - I run 120 PSI because of my panniers and the weight.

No, the rim just bulges outwards rather than inwards

Yip that's what has happened to me the couple of times I've had blown rear rims, the wheel gradually got harder to pedal (like the brakes were on) but thats about it.

This has got me worried about my rims now, done about 6,000 miles on the front wheel and I assume that will take the most hammer.
Can't imagine my wheels are worth a re-build, what checks can I do to spot the signs early enough?
Shimano RS10's btw.

This could be another reason to go disc brake road/cx bike next time.
Of my wheels that have rim markers the front has been in perfect condition and it is the rear that has worn out at approximately 6500miles and that has been on the hybrid; touchwood on the road bike (without and indicator) they still feel good at 8700miles; hopefully I'd notice on cleaning/ p'ture repair if they didn't feel right.
