I do 10-12 miles each way, 14 miles each way if I'm going to the other campus.

It takes 30-45 minutes each way and I'm quicker than a car, so it's worth it on both time & finance counts.

It would have to be bike transport bike for me as I work shifts and they are not consecutive days. 14 hour shifts and sleepovers as I am a support worker and need the car at home for other reasons in between. Those being two kids......

I'm going to look in to the train times to see what time I would need to get up as usually shift starts at 8am. I think it could be doable though as again from other posts some of of you guys have it a lot tougher with night shifts etc and long hours!

Spending more than an hour a day on the bike to get to work would drive me crazy - but at least I'd be on a bike. Spending even a fraction of that time in a car would be completely unacceptable - I don't know how people can stand an hour's commute by car - I'd have to change jobs or move closer to work.
Why?
Work is just something that happens in-between bike rides :bicycle:

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Walking takes 15 minutes, biking takes 5 and uses up 1/3 of the energy of walking. Cycling is faster, uses up less energy and is more fun. I know because I did the math. ^_^

Getting the bike out takes a minute. If the destination is more than a hundred yards away, it's always worth getting the bike out.

Depends if you have to ..
open garage
unlock bike from rack
put everything needed unto panniers ( sandwhiches, clothes, etc etc )
check lights
ride distance
lock bike in bike sheds
take lights off
carry panniers etc to changing rooms
get into work clothes, specific clothing required with hard hat and steel toe cap boots

You get the idea , by the time thats all done its probably quicker just to walk a mile.

between 5.5 miles or 9 miles each way depending on what mood i'm in lol!
Zhortest route is muddy as hell through farmland. next is a slight detour but takes me on a damned dangerous road. next is a less dangerous road and the longest route is mostly business park traffic so idiots fast asleep on their phones whilst driving. 35 miles each way sounds immense but if you can hack it fitness wise i'd say do it! that'll be an epic daily ride!!!

I occasionally commute into work but, as it's just over 21 miles each way, I do find the return journey a bit much.
Hopefully, as I get fitter, I'll be able to do it more often.

30 Mile each way for me as well so i have to use the car (and no trains either).

I have been looking to car / bike but as yet i have not found a free secure parking space in the area i want to leave the car in.

I do 11 miles each way. But I stand on my feet for 8 hours (I am a chef). Sometimes on the way home I make it a 20 mile ride.

I don't drive so it is either cycle or not work!

I have a choice of 4 routes varying between 10 and 15 miles each way. My favourite option being 11.2 miles each way, 650 feet of climbing each leg just to keep the lungs working

six and a half miles each way, 13 mile round trip, twenty five minutes each way.

just a measly 7 miles each way 4-5-6-7 days a week depending on how many shifts I am assigned. I did try out a 16 mile commute for a while but found it was too much and packed in cycling it towards the end of my stint at that place, over an hour each way was killing me.

Work is three miles with only a few hundred yards that aren't semi-reasonable non-road cycle paths...

...but I go the long 7 or 8 mile route whenever I can

I worked at home for ten years so I love the fitness cycling to work has given me!
