Never had Scaletrix as a kid




But took the first opportunity i had to buy my son a set

And I agree with Mr Pig novelty does wear off, which explains why my friends with Scaletrix always wanted to play with my train set.

The Kids have some motorcycles, they don't lean etc.
And it's a royal pain setting it up trying to get all the joints flowing current, hence it spend it time under the bed.
They did dig it out last week and I'd promised to set it up for them. I must do it this week as home alone with them I can leave it up on the hard floor down stairs.

Now that reminds me of all those toys they advertised as a kid that worked a treat on wooden floors but were total crap on carpet , Lost count of the time i spent out the kitchen trying to get them to work properly on the Lino and having my mother shout at me to get out from under her feet.

I never had a set (or Hornby for that matter) and feel rather deprived. As time went on I thought that the arrival of offspring would give me suitable excuse to buy both. Alas I had four daughters non of which had any interest in such things..........

The good news is that I now have a grandson so in a couple of years.........

There is lots of Hornby train stuff in the loft of Chateau Wafflycat. Loads of track, engines, trucks... Thre's a Flying Scotsman, a Thomas the Tank Engine... loads of stuff.

Did anybody ever have motorcycle combinations with thier Scaleletrics? My brother did with his. In fact I think the track is still in the garage although the cars, controllers and transformer is missing.

I never had a set (or Hornby for that matter) and feel rather deprived.

We got my son a Hornby train set last Christmas but he's not interested. I got lots of extra track for it and a really cool American diesel loco and lots of American freight wagons, waste of time.

i had a hornby set when i was younger but it ran on batteries so wasnt so good i did try and get it running off electric but the track was too crap
i did get my dads old n guage out and got some new track for that and that was great spent many hours playing with that
scalextric was only allowed to come out in summer holidays we got a load of track from the car boot and ran it from my brothers bed room, a long straight and into the bathroom then back round and out into my room then out and back up to my brothers it was great fun and could really get the cars going
theres a few types of cars you can get now cant remember the name of the other ones but on the fins at the bottom that sits into the track you have to file them down but they are ment to be faster
got told that when i went to get a new car after my one i broke the spoiler on i got bored of and the tyres would keep coming off so i got a nice black GT40 with silver lines the head lights come on but thats the point in that use that power to give me more power

Me and my brother had Hot Wheels first: yard-long strips of orange plastic track that clipped together and were powered by gravity and a booster.

We advanced to a poor-man's version of Scalextrix - Minic (or something similar). I had a green Porsche Carrera that had one wheel missing, but it was fast with great road holding!

Ah, those were the days!

do they do a bicycle one? im surprised there isnt a bicycle set instead of cars that would be good
when is there going to be a cycling game out for the playstation aswell theres car ones and other ones a cycling one would be good on the track or road racing im sure some fat kids or boring people would spend hours on it

Track converters, C8222, available. So if yours is the old style pin fastening you can use the current track. Not a problem.

Oh you missed out -well done for getting one.

Have you seen the price of the Digital stuff... £300 for a set (OK it's the set with 4 cars), which actually probably isn't bad, as the cars are about £30 or more each these days.

This the one you mean. With the proper controls you can have a twelve car race.

Just got this out of the attic - last used on my 30th, nearly 10 years ago. Had this since I was 3....

Kids are practicing as my daughter is going to her school mate's scalextric party at a model racing club tomorrow - big 8 laner apparently.

12 working cars, 3 are in the box as the motors died
